Reverse osmosis membranes allow clean water from seawater, brackish water or groundwater, and wastewater to permeate while salts are retained, much like a fine sieve.
Typically, an RO membrane rejects 95 – 99.5% of the dissolved salts and minerals from water, giving a water quality of around 10 to 20 micro-Siemens depending on the construction of the membrane and the supply water quality.
